Set up the Ultimate Ninja Home Obstacle Course for Kids

Lockdown loco? Don’t stress – it’s Ninja Parc to the rescue!

If your kids have watched the same movie for the third time in two days and everyone seems to have too much energy but nowhere to burn it, we have the answer – and you can do it in your lounge room!

Ninja Master Mitch Bird has put together the ultimate home obstacle course for all ages that your kids can build using everyday items from around the house.

“Obstacles are the ideal combination of physical and mental effort – because kids have to work out the best way to navigate them,” says Mitch.

“Letting kids help set up an obstacle course at home is half the fun, so get them involved in that part as well.

“There are simple ways to make these obstacles harder, if your little ninjas start finding them too easy, and for the ultimate test you can introduce a clock and time kids as they complete the course as quickly as possible – just like their favourite Ninja Warrior contestants.

“Kids will also likely come up with their own ‘twists’ and it’s great to embrace their ideas and let them make the course their own!”

Here’s how to set up and navigate the Ultimate Ninja Parc Home Obstacle Course for Kids!

Floating Pillows | Ninja Parc

Obstacle 1 – Pillow Floating Steps

What you need 4 – 5 pillows (Floating steps)

Obstacle set up Place each floating step diagonal from the one before so that you end up with two lines of pillows with gaps between each

How to tackle the Floating Steps The aim is to jump from one step to the next without splashing out by touching the floor. You can complete this obstacle by jump both feet or just one to each step

Increase the difficulty You can increase the difficulty of this obstacle by increasing the distance between steps

Bed sheet roll 2 | Ninja Parc

Obstacle 2 – Bed Sheet Barrel Roll

What you need 1 x Bed sheet

Obstacle set up Lay the sheet out lengthways in an open area. Ensure that it is completely flat

How to tackle the Barrel Roll Start by laying down across the start of your bed sheet. Holding onto the edge the ninja then rolls until the whole sheet has been wrapped around them. Lastly the ninja needs to stand up and escape from the sheet as quickly as possible!

Increase the difficulty You can increase the difficulty of this obstacle by using a heavier blanket/quilt or by adding a second blanket

Under table crawl 1 | Ninja Parc

Under Table Tunnel Crawl

What you need 1 x Table

Obstacle set up Ensure that there is enough space to crawl under your table

How to tackle the Tunnel Crawl This one is all about using your whole body. Ninjas should start with their bellies on the floor. Once ready they’ll crawl using both arms and legs until they get all the way through. Remember to stay low!

Increase the difficulty You can increase the difficulty of this obstacle by increasing the distance by adding an extra table or even using smaller tunnels like coffee tables or chairs

Broom stick beam 1 | Ninja Parc

Broomstick Balance Beam

What you need 1 x Broomstick

Obstacle set up Remove the broom head if possible. Lay your stick flat on the floor ensuring that there is plenty of space around just in case a ninja splashes out and falls to the side

How to tackle the Balance Beam You guessed it this one is all about balance! The aim is to balance along the stick without touching the floor. Use your arms to help counterbalance any movement

Increase the difficulty You can increase the difficulty of this obstacle by increasing the distance. If your ninja is ready for a real change give this one a go backwards

Sleeping bag shuffle | Ninja Parc

Sleeping Bag Shuffle

What you need 1 x Sleeping bag

Obstacle set up Place your sleeping bag/s at the start of a set distance. Ensure that your sleeping bag is fully zipped up before starting

How to tackle the Bag Shuffle Getting a fast start on this obstacle can mean the difference between getting a new personal best or just falling short. When you get to your bag the aim is to get your whole body inside as quick as possible. Complete this part whist standing, not sitting down. Once their head is the only part left uncovered the ninja will shuffle or jump a set distance. Remember this obstacle isn’t complete until the ninja has completely exited the sleeping bag

Increase the difficulty You can increase the difficulty of this obstacle by leaving the sleeping bag unzipped. This means that the ninja will have to zip the bag up before getting inside
